About NSIA

National Specialty Imaging Associates (NSIA) is a division of California Advanced Imaging Medical Associates (CAIMA), an imaging group that provides radiology services based on a subspecialty model for 14 hospitals and five outpatient imaging centers in the San Francisco Bay area, Nevada, Arizona, and Nebraska.

CAIMA established its national reputation through the work of another of its divisions - National Orthopedic Imaging Associates. NOIA was formed in 1989 to provide subspecialty teleradiology services to orthopedic groups who had installed their own MRI scanners and to supplement and enhance the services of local radiology groups and imaging centers. Today, NOIA serves 83 imaging centers throughout the United States and Singapore.

CAIMA expanded its teleradiology practice in 2008 with the creation of National Specialty Imaging Associates, which offers additional subspecialty services in neuroradiology, breast MRI, and PET/CT. NSIA utilizes the same infrastructure and business model as NOIA.

When partnering with NSIA, remote centers and private practices that might not have had the volume to support an onsite radiologist with specific subspecialty credentials can now provide this expertise to their patients. Furthermore, clinical groups such as neurologists, neurosurgeons and oncologists now have the option of accessing NSIA’s subspecialty imaging expertise.

The NSIA network guarantees that all imaging done on its network will be completed by fellowship-trained radiologists with specific expertise in the area imaged.

NSIA provides a full range of training, consultation, and IT services and also has a longstanding and successful relationship with Strategic Ancillaries in assisting physician practices with facility development and management.
