Jerome Barakos, M.D.
Dr. Barakos attended medical school at the University of Southern California. He completed his medical internship, radiology residency and his neuroradiology fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he specialized in both adult and pediatric neuroradiology.
He earned board certification in 1991 and a Certificate of Added Qualification in neuroradiology in 1996, with recertification in 2006. He currently practices at California Pacific Medical Center, where he is the Director of Neuroimaging.
Dr. Barakos is a member and past president of both the San Francisco Neurological Society and the San Francisco Radiological Society. He is also a member of the American College of Radiology, the American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the California Radiological Society, the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology, and a senior member of both the American Society of Neuroradiology and the Western Neuroradiological Society.
He has presented to dozens of university and professional groups, including the American Society of Neuroradiology, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of Thailand, the Radiological Society of South Africa, the Australian College of Radiologists, the Hong Kong College of Radiologists, the International Symposium on the Current Status of Contrast Enhanced MRI, and the Radiological Societies of Malaysia.
Dr. Barakos has contributed to seven books and published in the American Journal of Neuroradiology, Journal of Neurology, Radiology, Neurosurgery, Journal of Thoracic Imaging, Clinical Nuclear Medicine, the Western Journal of Medicine, the American Journal of Roentgenology, the Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, Proceedings of the Royal Society, Biological Sciences and many others.
He also serves as a peer reviewer for the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Journal of Roentgenology, the American Journal of Neuroradiology, and Neuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface.
